has education specialists that can come to schools and present programs on everything from recycling to vermicomposting (worm composting).

Huff Run Watershed Restoration Partnership

  • Employs environmental education staff that gives presentations to school groups, youth and adult groups.
  • Conducts annual field trips for area schools and home school groups to visit the watershed to experience macroinvertebrate (bug) sampling, watch fish study demonstrations,tour a restoration site and learn about water quality.
  • Organizes monthly Environmental Explorers Club for children ages 6 to 13. Meetings are usually the third Saturday of the month from noon to 3pm at the Mineral City Library. Children learn about nature and meet new friends through crafts, games and demonstrations.
  • Hold annual environmental photo contest.
  • Participates in annual Mineral City Party in the Park with large environmental education tent.
